Eminem’s “Recovery” First Week Sales Are In
Eminem’s “Recovery” will blast in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week with 741,000 sold according to Nielsen via Bill Board
Who bought the album? Did it live up to the hype? I think Eminem can sell 300k without any promotion at this point. His last album is almost 2 times and platinum and he even admitted it wasn’t that great.
Also Drake managed to sell another 157k putting him over the gold status in his second week. The Roots sold 51k, I didn’t even knew they dropped an album.
Lil Wayne Gets 3 Years Probation For Arizona Drug Charge
Entertainment Weekly: Weezy can breathe a little easier today. The Grammy-winning 27-year-old rapper, currently serving one year at New York’s Rikers on a previous gun charge, has received probation after pleading guilty to a reduced drugs charge on June 18 in Yuma County, Arizona. The case stems from a January 22, 2008, incident in which officers at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint some 80 miles east of Yuma found an ounce of cocaine, nearly four ounces of marijuana, 41 grams of Ecstasy, and a .40-caliber handgun registered to Wayne on his tour bus (which at the time contained 11 other people), leading to charges felony possession of a narcotic drug for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, misconduct involving weapons and possession of drug paraphernalia—for which Wayne may have faced a 36-month prison term, if convicted.
According to a Reuters report, all other charges were dismissed today in exchange for Wayne, born Dwayne Carter, pleading guilty to one count of possession of a dangerous drug. Wayne himself did not make the trip, appearing instead via video hookup from Rikers.
Can It Be?? LeBron James Spotted Checking Out NYC Apartments
The NY POST Reports:The "King" may be close to finding his castle.
LeBron James has checked out several West Village townhouses, raising the hopes of city hoops fans that world's greatest basketball player could be playing for the Knicks next season.
"King James" has fallen in love with one of Manhattan's most coveted neighborhoods -- which is just minutes from his other potential future home, Madison Square Garden -- said a broker who showed him the luxurious pads.
"He seems to be set on that neighborhood," big-league broker Dolly Lenz told The Post.
That's in part because the townhouses won't make the 6'8" Akron native worry about ducking when entering a room.

DOWNTOWN SHOT: LeBron James toured this townhouse during a Village house-hunting trip.
"His main concern is ceiling heights," Lenz said.
One of the addresses the current Cleveland Cavalier star toured was 23 Perry Street, where "Piano Man" Billy Joel and his ex-wife, celebrity chef Katie Lee, lived.
The four-floor townhouse, which is listed at $12.95 million, has been featured in numerous glossy magazines and one of Lee's best-selling cookbooks.
It has four bedrooms, four bathrooms and the master suite has a private, landscaped terrace to check out the un-Akron-like views.
The 4,000-square-foot home also includes a fireplace, elevator, indoor pool, and a garden with a sound system.
There's custom cabinets and wine storage in a kitchen literally built for a chef.
The two-time MVP also took a peek at a 63rd-floor apartment in the Time Warner Building in Columbus Circle. That home, which includes floor-to-ceiling windows, is on the market for $14.95 million.
James wasn't just in town to house-hunt, however.
Last Thursday, he was at nightclub Avenue where Mary J. Blige sang a few numbers at the table next to him, Page Six reported.
He then watched the US World Cup match Saturday at Serafina on the Upper East Side while the whole restaurant gawked at the potential savior of the city's basketball franchise.
So, Wat do you guys think about this? Do You think we are going to see him go with The New York Knicks?

Method Man Pleads Guilty To Tax Evasion, Makes Final $40K Payment On The Spot

NEW YORK (AP) - Hip-hop star Method Man pleaded guilty to a tax-evasion charge Monday, writing a check on the spot for the final $40,000 restitution payment after owing about $106,000.
The former Wu-Tang Clan member was arrested Oct. 9 on charges he failed to pay state and personal income taxes. He pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted failure to pay tax.
He was sentenced to a conditional discharge, which means the arrest will be purged from his record if he stays out of trouble.
"When he found out about the tax issue he hired someone and immediately corrected it," defense attorney Peter Frankel said. "He took care of it quickly like the good member of our community he is."
The musician, actor and artist, who lives on Staten Island and whose real name is Clifford Smith, failed to file tax returns for 2004 through 2007, prosecutors said. The most he owed for one year was $32,799.
Prosecutors said when people cheat on their taxes, other New Yorkers have to foot the cost.
"In these days of massive budget shortfalls and service cuts, tax evasion is a crime against all New Yorkers," Richmond County District Attorney Daniel Donovan said. "Whether you are a celebrity or an average Joe, you will be investigated, arrested and prosecuted."
In 2007, Method Man was arrested on a minor drug charge and was ordered to visit 15 city high schools to warn students about the dangers of drugs.
"He's not your typical rapper," Frankel said. "He's not a troublemaker."

5 Ways To Get Through Writer’s Block

We’ve all experienced it right? Those annoying moments when it seems like your brain is on deep freeze. Can’t find a concept…can’t start a beat..can’t find that next hot line. Sometime ago I decided that I’d find a some ways to work though the drought. Here are five.
1. Write hooks and come back to them later. Don’t try to complete an entire song. Sometimes the hooks are the only thing you can get off at the moment. Why stay stuck on one tune when you can shoot of a dozen hot choruses that you can fill in later?
2. Listen to other shit. Sometimes just hearing a line from another artist can create an entirely different thread of thought. Use it for inspiration.
3. Write about someone else’s experiences. Most emcees feel that they have to live what they write about. I think this has contributed to the lack of imagination in hip hop and why after 3 albums, these dude don’t have anything else to talk about, and talk retirement. You’re a storyteller. It’s okay to write about the lives of others.
4. Take a break!! Sometimes you just need to let your mind reboot. Listen to your body. It may just be telling you to chill the fuck out. You’ll ending up forcing something out that you won’t like later on anyway.
5. WEED!!…………just kidding!!
I’d like to hear some of the ways you get through writers block.

Wizards Select John Wall With #1 NBA Draftpick, Record Five Kentucky Players Selected

The 2010 NBA Draft took place on Thursday night (June 24) in New York, and it went down in the record books.
With the No. 1 pick in the draft, the Washington Wizards selected Kentucky Wildcats point guard John Wall. Following him was a record number of his Kentucky teammates.
In all, five Kentucky players were drafted in the first round of the Draft -- the first time it's happened in NBA history.
Wall is the SEC player of the year, and the first Kentucky player to be chosen first overall. However, his team fell short of the Final Four, despite all the talent around him.
As a Wizard, he hopes he can help them bounce back after the team endured embarrassment when star Gilbert Arenas was suspended for the rest of the season for bringing guns into the locker room.
"I feel like I had pressure since I became No. 1 in high school and was one of the top players," Wall said. "I always got there hungry wanting to fight hard and compete in every game, so when I step on the court I'm going to take on any challenge there."
It's unclear what his role will be with the Wizards. Will he replace Arenas? Or play alongside him? Making an exciting Wizards backcourt.
While Arenas is eligible to return, Wall said he isn't opposed to taking the reigns if he doesn't.
"I was always a leader by example being the first in the gym and the last in the gym," Wall said. "But I'm a leader that doesn't mind speaking up to the older guys."
With the No. 2 pick, the Philadelphia 76ers took national player of the year Evan Turner from Ohio State; while the New Jersey Nets picked up Georgia Tech freshman Derrick Favors with the third choice.
The Minnesota Timberwolves followed by draftig Syracuse forward Wesley Johnson with the fourth overall pick.
Wall's Kentucky teammate DeMarcus Cousins was taken by Sacramento at No. 5; Baylor's Ekpe Udoh was picked by Golden State with No. 6; Detroit selected Georgetown center Greg Monroe with the seventh pick; and the Los Angeles Clippers went for Wake Forest's Al-Farouq Aminu.
Butler's Gordon Hayward went ninth to Utah; while the Indiana Pacers chose Fresno State forward Paul George with the 10th pick overall.

Sylvester Stallone To Star As John Gotti In New Movie About The Mob Boss & Gambino Crime Family

Actor Sylvester Stallone is in talks with the late John Gotti’s son, “Junior” John Gotti, to make a movie about his father’s life as a mobster, CNN has confirmed.
Stallone himself would star as the "Teflon Don" in the film, which would tell the story of his life as the boss of the infamousGambino Mafia family, as told through the memories of his son.
The elder Gotti was convicted for murder and racketeering in 1992 and died in June, 2002 at the age of 61.
According to TMZ, the project is far enough along in development that Stallone is ready to choose a screenwriter.
It's not Stallone's first time playing a mobster, but a previous attempt has probably been forgotten by most of today's moviegoers: 1991's "Oscar," a John Landis-directed comedy about a gangster, played by Stallone, trying to go straight.
Eminem Set To Sell Over 600,000 Copies of Recovery In First Week

Billboard is reporting that when this week's sales data are all counted, Eminem looks set to sell over 600,000 copies of his new album Recovery in its opening week in stores. This would put the set well ahead of Sade's Soldier Of Love for the best sales week of the year so far. Eminem even looks in striking distance of the opening week sales of last year's Relapse which totaled 608,000.
Eminem is the biggest selling album artist of the past decade, and he is no slouch so far in the 2010s. Recovery will be the rapper's sixth consecutive #1 debut. Recovery is buoyed by the single "Not Afraid" which has already reached #1 and "Love the Way You Lie," a new single featuring vocals from Rihanna which is currently sitting at #1 on the iTunes chart.
Hip Hop N More Interview With Lloyd - Talks Signing To Interscope, Mystikal, and more!

I’ve been trying to get hold of Lloyd for an interview since past few months. I finally caught him a couple of weeks ago since he had a little time off from his busy recording and touring schedule. As you all know, the R&B singer has released 3 studio albums plus 1 EP till date and provided hooks for many smash hits including the most recent Young Money’s ‘BedRock’. He has continued that hustle by rendering vocals to Lloyd Banks, Chamillionaire and Nipsey Hussle’s new singles which are all on the radio right now or will be in the very near future. Fresh off a new deal with Interscope Records and a new album on the way, he took some time off to speak to us. Read on..
HHNM: Hello Lloyd, thank you for taking out the time to talk to us. First things first: I love your music! So what are you up to these days?
Lloyd: Recording the new album and doing shows across the globe. Just got back fro London and Africa.
HHNM: As a fan, I would like to thank you for releasing ‘The Young Goldie EP’. Some great music there, all for free.
Lloyd: Your welcome. I did that for you and all of my other fans.
HHNM: Your buzz single ‘Set Me Free’ has been gaining some good momentum especially with the video releasing this past week. How was the experience of working with the just freed New Orleans co-native Mystikal?
Lloyd: It was electrifying. MC has a lot of energy and he hasn’t lost a step. No one else could have worked on that song. It was the perfect collaboration from the brass band track to the concept.
HHNM: Congratulations on the new deal with Interscope! Working with the team over there must be a refreshing experience for you. How is it different from The Inc / Def Jam?
Lloyd: Just a new energy and new drive. Creatively it’s different because it’s me and Pollow crafting the sound. I’ve never had this kind of artist/producer relationship before. We’re making some great music.
HHNM: So is there any bad blood between you and Irv Gotti / The Inc or is it all cool? Would you still consider a collaboration with Ja? You guys had some hit records together.
Lloyd: I just let the past be the past and move forward. No bad blood and no hard feelings, just lessons learned. I wish all those guys the best.
HHNM: Great. Your previous two albums Street Love and Lessons In Love are underrated gems in my opinion. What kind of sound are you going for on your fourth album? Is ‘Love’ going to be the underlining theme this time around too?
Lloyd: Love isn’t necessarily the theme, but it’s definitely a big part of it. Lust, love, relationships, sex, it’s all in there. The sound is something you just have to hear. People will be surprised.

HHNM: Have you picked a title for it yet?
Lloyd: I’m throwing ideas around, but nothing official yet.
HHNM: I see. Tell us some of the artists and producers that you are working with on this album. I know you were in the studio with Polow Da Don a few days ago.
Lloyd: Me and Polow started it off a couple months ago, laying the foundation. I’m going in with the The Runners and Jim Jonsin again, and I’ve been talking to Swiss and Dr. Dre about getting in. No features yet.
HHNM: Will we get to hear another Lil Wayne collaboration soon? You guys clearly have some great chemistry.
Lloyd: With Wayne being away it’s gonna be hard for this album, but I may have something tucked away.
HHNM: Name one artist who you would really like to work with but haven’t got the chance yet.
Lloyd: Just one?
HHNM: Yeah.
Lloyd: … Kanye.
HHNM: Okay one last question and this might be a little hard to answer. It is something we ask everyone we interview here at Hip Hop N More: Prince or Michael Jackson and why?
Lloyd: I’m a huge fan of both and musically I put them on the same level, but as far as the one artist that had the single biggest influence on my music, that would have to be MJ.
HHNM: Alright Lloyd, thank you again for your precious time. Good luck on the new album, I can’t wait to hear it. Any shout outs or message to the fans?
Lloyd: Shout out to my YG team, Zone 4, and all my fans that have been patiently waiting. Stay up to date on Twitter.com/Lloyd_YG and www.YoungGoldie.com. Thanks.
Styles P. Keeps Fans In Mind With 'Smokable' CD Cover

(AllHipHop News) Yonkers, New York rapper Styles P. recently sat down with AllHipHop.com to explain the packaging for the companion CD to his new book, Invincible.
The dramatic novel was released on June 1st with a CD of music to accompany the CD.
And since one of Styles P.’s biggest hits is the 2002 song “Good Times (I Get High)” - is an ode to marijuana smoking- the rapper kept his core fans base in mind, by wrapping the CD in smokable packaging.
“It’s like the cellulose wrap, that clear see through s**t. Smoke in consideration, big brotha,” Styles P. told AllHipHop.com. “It's just in case you run out and you f**ked up. You know what I'm saying? You can go to that. Keep that in the cut."
The 240-page novel was written over a two-year period, in conjunction with author Nikki Turner and released in paperback form through Random House.
The book centers around “Jake Billings,” a record store owner who shoots two men when they attempt to rob him.
Billings is stabbed a week after being sent to prison and he doesn’t emerge from a coma for two years. When he does, he finds that life his changed.
His sentence has been commuted but enemies still stalk him.
“It’s getting a great response. Its selling so I'm just grateful and appreciative of what's going on," Styles P. told AllHipHop.com. “Its basically an action packed mystery I don't want to say [the ending], but I think people will learn that you can't always judge a book by its cover.”
Style P.’s Invincible book and CD can be purchased along with T-shirts and other merchandise at StylesP.net.
Whole New Level Of Stanning: Fan Pays $1 Mllion Dollars To Appear In Lady Gaga's 'Alejandro' Video

A Lady Gaga fan reportedly paid $1 million to appear in her new music video.
A Russian billionaire gave the pop singer the huge sum for the chance to star alongside her in the nine-minute promo for 'Alejandro'.
The wealthy admirer, who is only known as Arkady, can be spotted in the video playing a cop dressed in a black leather hat and coat.
The 30 year old said: "Yes it was me in the clip, but I can't give further details."
Gaga is also said to have been sworn to secrecy about his part in the promo.
The short film has attracted criticism for its religious overtones, which include the 'Poker Face' singer swallowing rosary beads whilst dressed as a nun.
Director Steven Klein insists the themes in the video aren t meant to upset Christians, saying: It s not meant to denote anything negative. It represents the character's battle between the dark forces of this world and the spiritual salvation of theSoul.
"Thus at the end of the film, she chooses to be a nun, and the reason her mouth and eyes disappear is because she is withdrawing her senses from the world of evil and going inward towards prayer and contemplation."
50 Cent Encouraging Kids To Stay Out Of Trouble & Exercise At "Forever Young Day" Festival In Baisley Park This Saturday June 26

For rapper 50 Cent, the birth of his son meant putting fatherhood ahead of the 'hood.
"It wasn't getting shot," said the platinum-selling Queens native, who took nine bullets in a 2000 murder try. "It was my son and creating a stable life for him."
The "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" singer returns to his old South Jamaica home Saturday, encouraging kids to get active in the community and avoid the street life.
"I want to be able to go and talk to them and [have] them really feel what my experience has been," he told the Daily News Thursday.
It's an intense, one-of-a-kind experience.
The rapper survived the shooting outside his grandmother's house. The one-time drug dealer was also stabbed.
But the rap icon said kids don't set out to do wrong. "They do what they're influenced to do," said 50 Cent, who hopes to exert a more positive influence.
The 35-year-old performer, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, is hosting "Forever Young Day" in Baisley Park - a six-hour event aimed at promoting exercise for local children.
The hip-hop artist tried hosting a similar neighborhood festival last year, but it was postponed because of security concerns surrounding his plans to perform.
An NYPD spokesman confirmed they are aware of Fitty's appearance, with adequate security assigned to the area.
Still, locals don't need to fear a melee like last week's South Street Seaport show - the performer won't pick up a microphone.
Fitty said the near-riot for a free Drake concert cut his chances to sing hits like "In Da Club" or "What Up Gangsta."
"They would've said no to me immediately," said the rapper, whose son Marquise is now 14.
He said lack of guidance led him to selling crack cocaine. Now, by promoting more activities, he can help others avoid making the same mistakes.
"You don't feel the repercussions because it comes so far after the game," the drug dealer-turned-rapper said. "I had no options: It was go on welfare or go in the street."
And now kids are spending too much time on the computers and the numbers of children who are obese are skyrocketing.
"Technology is keeping them still," he said, adding that he always stayed active as a kid by playing basketball or boxing. "You don't see that anymore."
The hip-hopper said he's working hard to get back in shape after gaining back the 50 pounds he shed for a movie role.
"I put the weight back on," he said, laughing. "I'm not back in shape, but my size is back."

The 7 Music Marketing Commandments

1. Focus on building your audience.
2. Fans are key. An opening slot for the big name, a random appearance at a show for a different demographic, is close to a waste of time.
3. Don’t keep hawking your CD. Sell your music! Acts think if they deliver a CD, they’ve made a dent. No you haven’t, the gatekeepers in media just throw them away, they certainly don’t listen to them. How do you get someone to really check out your music? By making it readily available online!
4. Criticism is irrelevant, only sales figures count. It does not matter what the media says about your music, only the fans.
5. Reviews only matter if they’re in a place your fans read them. Jam band aficionados might check you out (online!) after reading about you in “Relix”, if you’re an indie act, Pitchfork means something, but the review in the paper…who is that for? That’s just a mash note from your publicist, justifying his fee, no music fan gets turned on to music by the newspaper. That’s like advertising drag racing in a sailing magazine, birth control in “Highlights”…huh? As for live concert reviews…they never send a fan to give his take, so why should the review matter? (And if you want to reach the aged audience that still reads the newspaper, you might as well advertise in “AARP”.)
6. Marketing is secondary to music. Old wavers would like to say it’s the reverse, point to Ke$ha and other flavors of the moment, saying they have the power to build stars. That’s an old media circle jerk. Fewer people are paying attention, fewer people are buying the music, almost no one wants to see these acts live and there’s no longevity. This is just the dying gasp of an old system. Yes, there will always be Justin Biebers, teen phenoms, but beneath a very thin veneer of ubiquitous stars there’s a vast wasteland. You’re better off building from the ground up, brick by brick, your goal is to get to the middle, to sustain a career.
7. Publicity makes you happy, makes you think you’re accomplishing something, but unless you reach the core audience, it’s worthless. Believe me, this “Fast Company” piece is not for Carolla’s audience, it’s for his advertisers, potential ones, at best. If you get off on seeing your name in print, if you want to do interviews, go for it. But the odds of dividends are frightening low. Because most people don’t care. And if they do, its not for long. Don’t forget, reality TV is about making fun of those featured. That’s what television is now. Credible acts stay off! Hell, who wants to go on Letterman, be pre-interviewed, tell a funny story from growing up and look like an idiot? It’s about him, not you!

Three Steps To Change Anything
Three Steps To Change Anything
To succeed in today’s ever-changing world, there is no such thing as status quo. We live in a consumer savvy, knowledge-based, microwave society. Today’s consumers can push a button and have information at their fingertips, and business in general is conducted at the speed of thought.
If we want an edge in today’s marketplace, we must embrace change. You may be asking, “Why should I change? My life is great.” Remember, the old adage, “If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’re going to get what you’ve always got.” Well, that’s just not true anymore. If you keep doing exactly what you have been doing in the past, you may not even be in business a year or two from now.
The individuals who embrace change with a constant improvement attitude have an advantage over their competition and a real edge in life. The following are the three steps necessary to making any change in your life:
Step 1 – Realization
If you are totally satisfied with where you are, then change will never happen. All change comes from realizing that change needs to be made. This means you need to get disturbed deep down inside about where you are. To change, you gotta get sick and tired of the situation you are in.
You must also think about the alternative to not changing. Ask yourself; “What is the worst thing that could happen in my life if I don’t change?” Will you get left behind, will you lose a competitive advantage or will you be able to maintain your current lifestyle?
“Change the way you view the world and your world will change.”
Step 2 – Preparation
The difference between amateurs and those who perform at the highest level is the amount of preparation they put forth concerning any area of their life. The top achievers in sales, business and life are willing to practice the basics until they master them. They know the game, they understand the products, they know their services and they know their competition.
“Preparation is the foundation for any level of achievement.”
Step 3 – Application
The best practice is “game time,” and in sales, “game time” is when you are in front of customers. The only way you can achieve long-term and measurable results is by applying the techniques you learn into your daily routine. You’ve got to use it or lose it.
When you apply the skills you learn they become a real part of you. Application gives you the incredible power to be, do or have anything you want in your life. You can grow in the direction you want to grow and your life will take on a new purpose and meaning. You will start to experience results with a speed and precision you never dreamed possible. And your life will change.
EXERCISE: What are some areas of your business or life that you want to change? Write down the areas that you feel are just not good enough anymore. What disturbs you?
1.
2.
3.
EXERCISE: Write down the negative things that could happen if you do not change. What are the alternatives?
1.
2.
3.
EXERCISE: Write down the positive possibilities that could happen if you embrace change.
1.
2.
3.
